He’s stood nose-to-nose with coyotes to keep the herd safe, but he’s just as quick to pull a drowning baby goat from the swamp or kiss a dying horse on the forehead. Uhtred has a sixth sense for life and loss—he quietly stands watch over birthing mommas and their newborns until we’ve greeted them ourselves. He even escorts children through the woods like a guardian angel on four legs. We’re pretty sure he’s the best dog that ever was. Without him, the rest of the animals would be lost.
